Maithili language is a very old Indian language. It is recognised under the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, making it an official language in India.
Objectives
- Listening: Develop the ability to listen to and understand conversations, speeches, and broadcasts in Maithili.
- Speaking: Develop the ability to express feelings and thoughts clearly and effectively in the Maithili language.
- Reading: Practice reading books, newspapers, and letters accurately, paying attention to punctuation, intonation, and paragraphs.
- Writing: Develop clear handwriting and the correct use of punctuation in sentences while writing in Maithili.
- Literary Awareness: Introduce students to various literary genres in Maithili such as poetry, stories, essays, plays, travelogues, and diaries.
- Cognitive Skills: Develop capacities for memory, reflection, and expression of thought through the Maithili language.
- Cultural Connection: Foster a sense of affinity toward the Maithili language, literature, and culture.
