Subject: Bhoti SUBJECT CODE N. 088 CLASS IX and X (2026-2027)

Background:

Bhoti script was invented with 4 vowel and 30 consonants derived from fifty Devnaagri alphabets of India in 7 th Century A.D by Thonmi Sambhota. It is a complete language having composed 8 books on grammar after the model of Panini's Vyakarana of Sanskrit language.

It is the cultural language of the people of Himalayan region from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh. The works and spirit of today's much talked Nalanda University is preserved in Bhoti language. Bhoti language is rich in literature, which spans from medicine, Astrology, logic, history, philosophy, arts, yoga, drama and music etc.

Objectives:

  1. To build a greater confidence and proficiency in oral and written communication.
  2. To learn and develop understanding in all kinds of traditional knowledge systems

(Maha-vidyays) like science of language and grammar, traditional medicines, logic, history, Arts and other allied subjects.

  1. To develop ability and knowledge required in order to engage in independent refection and enquiry.
  2. For the preservation and promotion of Bhoti language and literatures.
  3. To understand and strengthen Ancient Indian Knowledge systems.
  4. To acquaint knowledge on cultural heritage of the region.
  5. To develop curiosity creativity through extensive reading.
  6. Develop appreciation for Indian languages (Multilingualism).
