- (क) मल्लिका और चन्दन ने एक महीने तक गाय की देखभाल इस प्रकार की कि वे उसे घास-भूसा खिलाते थे, उसके सींगों पर तेल लगाते थे, तिलक लगाते थे और रात में आरती उतारकर उसे प्रसन्न करते थे।
- (ख) समय शीघ्रता से न किए गए कार्य, लेन-देन और कर्तव्य के रस को पी जाता है। अर्थात, जो काम समय पर नहीं किए जाते, वे समय के साथ व्यर्थ हो जाते हैं।
- (ग) जब मल्लिका घड़े के मूल्य के लिए अपने आभूषण देने का प्रयास करती है, तो कुम्हार कहता है, "पुत्री! मैं कोई पाप कर्म नहीं करना चाहता। मैं तुम्हें आभूषणों से रहित नहीं करना चाहता। तुम अपनी इच्छानुसार घड़े ले जाओ। दूध बेचकर ही घड़े का मूल्य देना।"
- (घ) मल्लिका ने गाय को दूध रहित देखकर उसके पीटने का वास्तविक कारण जान लिया। उसने समझा कि गाय को ठीक से न दुहने के कारण वह दूध नहीं दे रही थी।
- (ङ) एक महीने तक गाय का दूध न दुहने का कारण यह था कि ग्राम प्रमुख के घर तीन सौ सेटकमित दूध देने के लालच में उन्होंने गाय की देखभाल में लापरवाही की और उसे ठीक से दुहना बंद कर दिया।

जब चन्दन अपनी पत्नी के काशीविश्वनाथ के प्रति धर्मयात्रायाः (धर्मयात्रा) के विषय में जानता है, तब वह क्रोधित नहीं होता क्योंकि उसकी पत्नी घर की व्यवस्था (गृहव्यवस्थायै) के बारे में बताकर सहेलियों के साथ घूमने जाती है। अपितु वह उसकी यात्रा के लिए मङ्गलकामनाम् (शुभकामना) करता हुआ कहता है कि तुम्हारे मार्ग शिव (अर्थात् कल्याणकारिणः - कल्याणकारी) हों। मार्ग में कोई भी बाधा तुम्हारे लिए समस्या न उत्पादयेत् (उत्पन्न करे)। इससे सिद्ध होता है कि चन्दन नारी स्वतंत्रता का समर्थकः (समर्थक) था।
