खंड ‘क’
- निम्नलिखित गद्यांश को पढ़कर पूछे गए प्रश्नों के लिए सही विकल्प चुनकर लिखिए : 1×5=5 सड़क मार्ग से हम आगे बढ़े और सरयू पुल पर ही बस्ती जिले की सीमा में प्रवेश किया। हमारा पहला पड़ाव कुशीनगर था, मगर हम कुछ देर मगहर में रुके। कबीर की निर्वाण भूमि, मगर फिरकापरस्तों ने उनकी सारी मेहनत पर पानी फेर दिया है और उन्हें मंदिर और मकबरे में बाँट दिया है। मठ के महंत ने हमारे भोजन की व्यवस्था की और आसपास के स्कूल और कॉलेज की लड़कियों से मुलाकात भी कराई। उनसे बातचीत से हमने जाना कि अब स्थितियाँ बदली हैं, लड़िकयों की पढ़ाई और नौकरी पर ध्यान दिया जाता है। मगर सामाजिकता का लोप-सा होने लगा है, अब ब्याह और मरनी- हरनी में भी एका नजर नहीं आता। गीतों की बात चली तो वहाँ मौजूद पचास-साठ लड़िकयों में किसी को भी लोकगीत याद नहीं थे।
वहाँ से हम कुशीनगर पहुँचे। रात घिरने लगी थी, मगर हम पंडरी गाँव के लोगों से मिले। कुशीनगर से लगभग बीस किलोमीटर होने पर भी विकास का एक कण भी यहाँ नहीं पहुँचा था। मगर यहाँ के युवा सजग हैं, वे स्वप्रयास से स्कूल भी चलाते हैं। रात को हम बौद्ध मठ में ठहरे। यह मठ किसी शानदार विश्रामगृह से कम नहीं था। सुबह हम केसरिया गाँव गए। सामाजिक और पारिवारिक विघटन के इस दौर में एकमात्र संयुक्त परिवार मिला। हमने उनसे बात की। उस परिवार की सबसे बुजुर्ग महिला के पास तीज-त्योहार, गीत-गवनई की अनुपम थाती थी, मगर उनसे सीखने वाला कोई नहीं था। नई पीढ़ी लोक से विरत थी।
