(i) इस प्रश्न-पत्र में कुल 15 प्रश्न हैं। सभी प्रश्न अनिवार्य हैं।
- इस प्रश्न-पत्र में कुल चार खण्ड हैं – खण्ड क, ख, ग और घ।
- खण्ड क में कुल 2 प्रश्न हैं, जिनमें उपप्रश्नों की संख्या 10 है।
- खण्ड ख में कुल 4 प्रश्न हैं, जिनमें उपप्रश्नों की संख्या 20 है।
- खण्ड ग में कुल 5 प्रश्न हैं, जिनमें उपप्रश्नों की संख्या 21 है।
- खण्ड घ में कुल 4 प्रश्न हैं।
- प्रश्न-पत्र में समग्र विकल्प नहीं दिया गया है। यद्यपि, कुछ खण्डों में आंतरिक विकल्प दिए गए हैं, दिए गए निर्देशों का पालन करते हुए प्रश्नों के उत्तर दीजिए।

- निम्नलिखित गद्यांश को ध्यानपूर्वक पढ़कर उस पर आधारित दिए गए प्रश्नों के सर्वाधिक उपयुक्त उत्तर लिखिए:
7 उत्तरी गोलार्द्ध में पतझड में प्रवास में चिडियाँ अंडे देने के स्थान से चलती हैं। वे उत्तर से दक्षिण की ओर ऊँचे अक्षांशों से निचले अक्षांशों की ओर जाती हैं; दक्षिणी गोलार्द्ध इसका उल्टा होता है जो कि स्वाभाविक ही है। चिड़ियाँ दक्षिण की सर्दी से बचने के लिए उत्तर की ओर चल पड़ती हैं। यह बात तो समझ में आती है कि कुछ चिड़ियाँ सख्त जाड़े से घबरा कर अपेक्षाकृत कम ठंडे स्थानों की ओर भाग जाती हैं और जैसे ही गर्मी शुरू होने लगती है, लौट कर अपने देश आ जाती हैं। वे अपने देश जब आती हैं, उस समय वहाँ पेड़ों पर नई-नई कोंपलें, कलियाँ और फूल निकले होते हैं और परिवार के पोषण के लिए तमाम तरह के कीड़े-मकोड़े उपलब्ध होते हैं। गर्मी खत्म होते-होते बच्चे बड़े होकर आत्मनिर्भर हो जाते हैं और पतझड़ के बाद पहली सर्दी के पड़ते ही, चिड़ियाँ दक्षिण की ओर चल देने को तैयार हो जाती हैं।
यहाँ तक तो ऐसा लगता है कि इन कठिन प्रवास यात्राओं का निश्चित महत्त्व है और शायद जो चिड़ियाँ प्रवास पर जाती हैं उनके लिए, कुछ हद तक यह आवश्यक भी है; लेकिन उलझन में डालने वाली बात यह है कि कुछ चिड़ियाँ प्रवास पर पूर्व से पश्चिम या पश्चिम से पूर्व को लगभग उसी अक्षांश पर, लगभग उसी प्रकार के जलवायु वाले प्रदेशों में अंडे देने के लिए जाती हैं।
अपनी इस लंबी यात्रा पर प्रस्थान करने से पहले प्रवासी चिड़ियाँ इसके लिए बाकायदा तैयारी करती हैं। वे खाना अधिक मात्रा में खाती हैं ताकि चर्बी की एक तह सी बैठ जाए जो उनकी यात्रा में उनके शरीर को ताकत प्रदान करती रहे। कुछ चिड़ियाँ अभ्यास करना और झुंड बनाकर उड़ना सीखना शुरू कर देती हैं। प्रयोगों से पता चला है कि सूरज निकलने और डूबने से चिड़ियों को प्रस्थान के समय का संकेत मिलता है। लंबी यात्रा में सूरज ही उनको कुतुबनुमा का काम देता है।
