- निम्नलिखित गद्यांश को ध्यानपूर्वक पढ़कर उस पर आधारित दिए गए प्रश्नों के उत्तर लिखिए :
जिसका शरीर और मन अपने काम को तत्परता से करने के बावजूद थके-उकताए नहीं, बल्कि उसमें इसके बाद भी इतनी शक्ति बची रहे कि वह स्वयं प्रसन्न होकर और प्रसन्नतापूर्वक दूसरे असमर्थों की सहायता कर सके, उनके काम निपटाने में हाथ बँटा सके उसे ही हम कहेंगे ‘स्वस्थ’ और उसके इस सामर्थ्य को कहा जाएगा ‘स्वास्थ्य’। 10 भरे बोरे की तरह मोटा हो जाना अच्छे स्वास्थ्य की निशानी नहीं है। एक कोस चले तो हाँफने लगे, घंटे भर पढ़े तो सिर में चक्कर आ जाए, अपना मामूली सामान दस कदम ढोने में कुली के बिना काम न चले, उसे हम स्वस्थ कदापि नहीं कहेंगे।
स्वास्थ्य मनुष्य की प्रथम सम्पत्ति है। वह ईश्वर के लुभावने वरदानों में सर्वोत्तम है। स्वास्थ्य अमीरों के लिए वरदान है, गरीबों के लिए सम्पत्ति । स्वास्थ्य को किसी भी महँगे मूल्य पर खरीदा नहीं जा सकता। इसके बिना संसार का भोग संभव नहीं है।
स्वस्थ व्यक्ति की भुजाएँ वटवृक्ष की तरह निराश्रितों को आश्रय देती हैं, किन्तु जिसके शरीर के ऊपर अस्वास्थ्य की डरावनी छाया मँडराने लगती हो उसका जीवन उस पतले धागे पर टँगा रहता है, जिसे मृत्यु देवता जब चाहें, तोड़ डालें। एक स्वस्थ व्यक्ति के नयनों में स्वप्न नाचते रहते हैं, उसके अंग-अंग में तरुणाई जम्हाई लेती रहती है। किन्तु जो विटामिन की शीशियों से स्वास्थ्य उधार माँगते फिरते हैं वे दूसरों को धोखा तो दे सकते हैं अपने आप को धोखा नहीं दे सकते। स्वास्थ्य की लाली तो खिलते गुलाब की लाली है, उसकी चमक तो सूरज की कुँआरी किरणों की चमक है।
अस्वस्थ व्यक्ति के लिए जीवन भार बन जाता है। संगीत के सुंदर स्वर कर्णकटु और मन मगन करने वाली किसी की खुली हँसी, मन की कचोट हो उठती है। अत: यदि हम पृथ्वी का सारा सुख भोगना चाहते हैं, यदि हम राष्ट्र की और विश्व की उन्नति करना चाहते हैं, तो स्वास्थ्य रक्षा के नियमों का पालन करें। महर्षि चरक ने लिखा है ‘स्वास्थ्य रूपी घर को ठीक रखने के तीन पाये हैं’ – उचित आहार, पूर्ण निद्रा और ब्रह्मचर्य। अच्छा स्वास्थ्य सर्वोत्तम धन है, उसे किसी भी मूल्य पर खरीदा नहीं जा सकता।
