निम्नलिखित निर्देशों को बहुत सावधानी से पढ़िए और उनका पालन कीजिए :
(i) इस प्रश्न-पत्र में दो खंड हैं - खंड-‘अ’ और ‘ब’ । कुल प्रश्न 13 हैं ।
- खंड-‘अ’ में 45 बहुविकल्पी वस्तुपरक उपप्रश्न पूछे गए हैं, जिनमें से केवल 40 उपप्रश्नों के उत्तर देने हैं ।
- खंड-‘ब’ में वर्णनात्मक प्रश्न पूछे गए हैं। प्रश्नों के उचित आंतरिक विकल्प दिए गए हैं।
- प्रश्नों के उत्तर दिए गए निर्देशों का पालन करते हुए दीजिए।
- दोनों खंडों के प्रश्नों के उत्तर देना अनिवार्य है।
- यथासंभव दोनों खंडों के प्रश्नों के उत्तर क्रमशः लिखिए।

राष्ट्रपिता, महात्मा गांधी सार्वजनिक और निजी स्वच्छता के प्रति चिंतित थे। दक्षिण अफ्रीका में बिताए दिनों के बाद से ही यह उनके सत्याग्रह अभियान का हिस्सा था। गांधी जी के लिए, समाज में स्वच्छता के लिए अभियान एक जाति विहीन और स्वस्थ समाज बनाने की प्रक्रिया का अभिन्न अंग था । उन्होंने स्वच्छता को व्यक्तिगत जिम्मेदारी बनाने और इसे अस्पृश्यता को दूर करने की कुंजी मानने के अपने विचार को दोहराते हुए कहा था, “हर कोई अपना स्वयं का सफाई कर्ता है।” गांधी जी जब दक्षिण अफ्रीका में थे तभी से उन्होंने अपनी साफ-सफाई का काम स्वयं करना शुरू कर दिया था और भारतीयों को भी सलाह दी थी कि वे अपना शौचालय साफ और सूखा रखें। वे जब भारत लौटे, तो उन्होंने दृढ़ता से भारतीयों के लिए स्वच्छता और उन्हें स्वच्छता के प्रति शिक्षित करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया।
गांधी जी ने कहा था, “स्वच्छता स्वतंत्रता से अधिक महत्त्वपूर्ण है।” हमारे माननीय प्रधानमंत्री ने स्वच्छता पर गांधी जी के विचारों से प्रेरणा ली और उनकी जयंती पर ‘स्वच्छ भारत अभियान’ शुरू किया । यह अभियान एक राष्ट्रीय प्राथमिकता बन गया और प्रधानमंत्री ने प्रत्येक भारतीय से इसमें शामिल होने और अपने आस-पास सफाई रखने का आग्रह किया। * A 2
