- इस प्रश्न-पत्र में दो खण्ड हैं – खण्ड अ और खण्ड ब /
- खण्ड अ में 45 बह्विकल्पी। वस्तुपरक उप-प्रश्न पूछे गए हैं, जिनमें से केवल 40 उप-प्रश्नों के उत्तर लिखने हैं ।
- खण्ड ब में वर्णनात्मक प्रश्न पूछे गए हैं। प्रश्नों के उचित आंतरिक विकल्प दिए गए हैं।
- प्रश्नों के उत्तर दिए गए निर्देशों का पालन करते हुए लिखिए।
- यथासंभव दोनों खण्डों के प्रश्नों के उत्तर क्रमश: लिखिए।

वैश्विक महामारी, संघर्ष और प्राकृतिक आपदा के बीच पूरा विश्व अवसाद से गुजर रहा है । औद्योगिक क्रांति की लहर के कारण पृथ्वी की पारिस्थितिकी और इंसानों के पर्यावरण के साथ संबंधों में एक नया और उल्लेखनीय मोड़ आया । करीब पाँच हज़ार वर्ष पहले हुए कृषि क्रांति ने समाज को भोजन और स्थायित्व प्रदान किया था । पहली औद्योगिक क्रांति 250 साल पहले हुई थी जो मुख्यत: कोयले और भाप के साथ हुई थी; दूसरी औद्योगिक क्रांति बिजली और तेल के साथ तथा तीसरी कम्प्यूटर और सहायक सामग्रियों के साथ और अब चौथी औद्योगिक क्रांति में भौतिक, डिजिटल और तकनीकी दुनिया में प्रौद्योगिकी का सम्मिश्रण है । बीसवीं शताब्दी के दौरान परमाणु बमों के विस्फोट के साथ मानवता ने नए युग में प्रवेश किया । हमने स्वयं के विनाश करने की शक्ति पा ली यह सुनिश्चित किए बिना कि हम ऐसा होने से रोक सकते थे।
एक ऐसी दुनिया की कल्पना करना भी मुश्किल है जहाँ देश शक्ति और प्रभुत्व के लिए प्रतिस्पर्धा नहीं करेंगे । विस्तृत औद्योगीकरण, कारखानों के प्रसार, सड़कों के निर्माण के लिए जंगलों के कटाव, विशाल बाँधों और विस्तृत उत्पादन आदि के लिए नदियों को रोकने, यातायात के साधनों की गतिविधियों और लोगों के पलायन ने पारिस्थितिकी में गंभीर गड़बड़ी पैदा की है । जिसके फलस्वरूप पर्यावरण परिवर्तन और भूमंडलीय ताप में वृद्धि को नकारा नहीं जा सकता है।
आज प्रकृति और विश्व-शांति दोनों ही ख़तरे में हैं। विकास ने भू-राजनीति के साथ मिलकर मानवता को ख़तरे में डाल दिया है । और हमें यह नहीं पता कि वर्तमान की संकटमय परिस्थिति के आत्मघाती तरीकों से कैसे उबरा जाए ?
आज मानव अस्तित्व को ग्लोबल वार्मिंग और जलवायु परिवर्तन से ख़तरा हो रहा है और इसमें इतनी क्षमता है कि दुनिया के विभिन्न हिस्सों के अरबों लोगों के जीवन और निवास स्थान को नुकसान पहुँच सकता है। पारिस्थितिकी संरक्षण और जलवायु-परिवर्तन की भयावह चुनौतियाँ दहला देने वाली हैं । अब इस बात की आवश्यकता है कि हमारी सोच और व्यवहार में बदलाव लाया जाए । इस मुद्दे का केन्द्र बिन्दु यह है कि हम अपनी सभ्यता की प्रक्रिया के संरक्षण के लिए किस प्रकार नए और संवेदनशील निर्माण की ओर बढ़ सकते हैं।
