- इस प्रश्न-पत्र में कुल 13 प्रश्न हैं । सभी प्रश्नों के उत्तर देना अनिवार्य है ।
- इस प्रश्न-पत्र में दो खण्ड हैं – खण्ड अ और खण्ड ब /
- खण्ड अ में 45 बह्विकल्पी। वस्तुपरक उप-प्रश्न पूछे गए हैं, जिनमें से केवल 40 उप-प्रश्नों के उत्तर लिखने हैं ।
- खण्ड ब में वर्णनात्मक प्रश्न पूछे गए हैं। प्रश्नों के उचित आंतरिक विकल्प दिए गए हैं।
- प्रश्नों के उत्तर दिए गए निर्देशों का पालन करते हुए लिखिए।
- यथासंभव दोनों खण्डों के प्रश्नों के उत्तर क्रमश: लिखिए।

- निम्नलिखित गद्यांश को ध्यानपूर्वक पढ़कर पूछे गए प्रश्नों के सर्वाधिक उपयुक्त उत्तर वाले
विकल्प को चुनकर लिखिए : <math>10 \times 1 = 10</math>
वायु की गुणवत्ता में सुधार के लिए तुरंत कदम उठाए जाने की आवश्यकता है। प्राय: प्रदूषण बढ़ने के बाद ही हम कार्यवाही के लिए लालायित होते हैं, जबकि प्रदूषण बढ़ने से पहले ही हमें सक्रिय हो जाना चाहिए । मौसम और वायु प्रदूषण एक-दूसरे से जुड़े हैं । हवा की गति कम हो, तो प्रदूषक तत्त्व बढ़ जाते हैं और हवा की गति जब ज्यादा होती है, तो बेहद खराब-से-खराब हवा भी बेहतर होने लगती है । समय विशेष में किसी खास दिशा से हवा नमी, धूल या प्रदूषकों को साथ ला सकती है । कुछ वायु प्रदूषक जमीन की सतह के आसपास होते हैं और बहुत ऊँचाई तक पहुँचे प्रदूषक मौसम को भी प्रभावित करते हैं।
जमीन से उठी गैसें, रासायनिक कण वायुमंडल में पहुँचकर अनेक बार नुकसानदेह प्रदूषणकारी बन सकते हैं, यदि वे लंबे समय तक वायुमंडल में बने रहे । अत: यदि अभी प्रद्षण वायुमंडल में पहुँचना रुक भी जाए, तो भी मौजूदा प्रद्षण अगले कई सालों तक असरकारी रहेंगे । वायु प्रदूषण की एक सच्चाई यह भी है कि एक जगह का प्रदूषण दूरस्थ क्षेत्रों तक पहुँच जाता है। हवा साफ हो, तो कहीं-से-कहीं पहुँचे, चिंता की बात नहीं। हवा यदि प्रदूषण का भार लिए हुए है, तो चिंता का कारण है। हवा को प्रदूषकों का भार न ढोना पड़े, इसके साझा प्रयास किए जाने चाहिए । इसके लिए नवाचारी टेक्नोलॉजी और पद्धतियों के अनुसंधान पर काम करना ही होगा।
जगह-जगह भवनों या अन्य ढाँचागत निर्माण से खुली जगह में जो कमी आ रही है, उससे स्थानीय स्तर पर वायु-प्रवाह में दिक्कत हो रही है। इससे भी प्रदूषण आसपास ही मॅंडराता रहता है। जीवाश्म ईंधन जलाने से या औद्योगिक प्रदूषणों से कार्बन, सल्फर या नाइट्रोजन के ऑक्साइड जब वायुमंडल में पहुँचे, तो जल और जल का जो भी प्रारूप होगा, वह हिमपात हो या ओस हो तेजाबी हो सकता है। निस्संदेह बरसात के बाद हवा तो साफ लगेगी लेकिन प्रदूषित जल से पेड़ों की जड़ें और उनको जमीन से मिलने वाले पोषक तत्त्व दुष्प्रभावित हो सकते हैं । तालाबों, निदयों के जलचर पीड़ित हो सकते हैं । कुछ प्रदूषक पत्तियों पर ऐसे बैठ जाएँ, जो पेड़ों के लिए हानिकारक हों।
