Academic Session 2026-27 Syllabus Class X English

There will be one question paper of 70 marks. Internal assessment will be for 30 marks. Unit-1 Reading 10 marks

1. One short unseen passage followed by three MCQs. <math>3x1 = 3</math>

1. One unseen passage followed by three very short answer type questions and one vocabulary

based question <math>3x2+1=7</math>

Unit-2 Writing Skills 10 marks

1. Letter (formal/informal)/Application . 4

1. Descriptive paragraph/Report/ Article (One option based on given verbal input, another on

figurative input)in about 80-100words. 6

Unit-3 Grammar 15 marks

1. Five MCQs based on parts of speech, tenses, articles, reordering of sentences, spellings. <math>5x1=5</math>
2. Three very short answer type questions based on narration, voice, punctuation. <math>3x2=6</math>
3. Translation of a short passage from Hindi to English. (4 sentences) 4

Unit-4 Literature 35 marks

First Flight (23 marks) Prose(15 marks)

1. Two MCQs based on the given extract. <math>2x1=2</math>
2. Three MCQs based on lessons. <math>3x1 = 3</math>
3. Two short answer type questions in about 30-40 words each. 3+3=6

11.One long answer type question in about 60-80 words. 4

Poetry (08 marks) 12.Two MCQs based on the given extract. <math>2x1=2</math>

1. One short answer type question based on poetry lessons in about 30-40 words . 3

The Sum of the marks obtained in four unit tests should be converted into 10 Marks.
